His autobiography begins on Sunny beach – Bulgaria as a bellboy (1969), and after graduation (1981), continued on various positions in Bulgarian tourism as a Representative of Balkan Holidays (1981), member of Staff and Director of the International Trade Organisation - Balkantourist (1986), Vice president (1990), President and CEO (1992) of the Balkan Holidays International PLC, included Balkan Holidays brand companies in London, New York, Rome, Berlin, Frankfurt/M, Vienna, Zurich, Kopenhagen, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Stockholm, Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Moscow, Cairo, Beirut and El Kuwait.
Rumen Draganov was Chairman of the Tourism Committee at the Council of Ministers (1997) and Deputy Minister of Trade and Tourism (1997).
He was one of the founders of Bulgarian Association of Travel Agents (1989-2006), Chairman of the Forum Literature magazine (1992-2006), Chairman of Board of Trustees of The National School for Ancient Languages and Cultures (1992-2007), president of American Society of Travel Agents - Bulgarian chapter (1994-1996), editor of Tourism Bulgaria magazine (1996-1997), member of Bulgarian Association of alternative tourism (1998-2014), president of Sofia Tourism Council (1999-2006), member of the Executive Board of National Forum of Culture. (2003-2006).
Rumen Draganov is currently President of the Treasury board of the National Tourism Board (2006), Assoc. prof. at University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (2006), director of the Institute of Analysis and Assessments in Tourism (2006), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grand hotel Pomorie (2007). Member of the Management Board of the Foundation for local government reform (1992), Member of the Board of Bulgarian Cycling Federation (2016),Member of the Board of Association of Quality in Health Prevention, Wiesbaden, Germany (2016).
